Battle of the Townlands - Great Day

Thank you to Vera Farrelly for capturing some great moments at yesterday's 'Battle of the Townlands' (check out our Facebook page)

Thank you to all who helped organise a really enjoyable morning.Eoin Somerville, Sean Brady and all the Ramor Utd GFC Senior players, referees Ray Tynan, Ciaran Daly and Conor Fitzpatrick who had their hands full all morning, Lisa in Adventure 21 Cafe, and all who organised the selling of raffle tickets

On the pitches, the action was intense at times with lads and ladies from 14yrs to 50+ taking to the field. After some closely fought group matches which included a playoff to find out the last Semi finalist, the 4 remaining were Lisduff, Murmod and the original townland battlers from the 80's and 90's Fartagh Rangers and Lattoon Slashers.

The final showdown between Murmod and Lisduff was a tight affair with the lead changing hands near the end, Lisduff looked like a formidable outfit with the Doughtys from Longfield(greater Lisduff) and Ryan Tobin adding to an already quality team, but with Murmods Mossie Farrelly pinging over sideline balls, Chippy Brady playing the sweeper keeper and Oliver McCrystal shining they quietly went about their business and a late foul on their young lady Ciara Brady resulted in the winning point and the Cup was heading for the hill

A really enjoyable morning and a final figure for local charities will be known in the coming days
